Practical experience

Vongani focuses on labour and employment law practice, but his expertise also includes litigation and dispute resolution, corporate and commercial law, and general legal advisory. Vongani’s engagement with various state institutions has provided him with valuable experience and a deeper understanding of local government law. As part of his practice, some of the matters he was involved in required him to attend to the following:

• Advising clients on Labour related instructions, drafting and initiating charge sheets on behalf of clients, attending to Labour related disputes.
• Management of Labour Court Reviews, compiling and filing of records for reviews issued against the CCMA/and or Bargaining Councils arbitration awards.
• Drafts all legal documents including but not limited to pleadings, contracts or agreements, notices and various correspondence applicable to particular areas.
• Advise clients on property law and management relates aspects, including advising on the Prevention of Illegal Eviction from and Unlawful Occupation of Land Act.
• Providing general verbal or written advices to clients, including strategies for litigation from pre-litigation to trial stage in action proceedings and from notice of motion to argument stage in motion proceedings.
• Attendances to Court and associated forums, including arguing matters, engaging with court personnel and various administrative tasks associated with litigation.
• Conducting research on case law, statutes and regulations and drafting memos to clients on the outcome of the research.
• Vongani’s regular clients include PRASA, The City of Cape Town, SASSA, ACSA, Nedbank Ltd.
