Practical experience

Geraldine mainly works on High Court matters, but also attends to Magistrate Court matters as well. Most of her time is spent on   litigation and Commercial instructions. She was also involved in assisting clients with POPIA compliance, drafting relevant opinions and relevant policies relating to governing and procurement solutions. Geraldine is eligible to appear in the Magistrate court and the High Court of South Africa. As part of her overall practice, she, on a daily basis attends to the following:

• Advise public entities and other clients on the Constitution, Public Finance Management Act, Municipal Systems Act, procurement policies and any other applicable legislation.
• Interrogate, review, negotiate and draft contracts (lease agreements, supply agreements, service level agreements, etc.).
• Draft court processes (action and application proceedings, including heads of argument), and appearances in High and Magistrates Courts.
• Advise clients on property law and management relates aspects, including advising on the Prevention of Illegal Eviction from and Unlawful Occupation of Land Act.
• Advise clients in insolvencies and participating in insolvency inquiries, including advising on the Companies Act and Insolvency Act.
• Conduct forensic- and due diligence investigations and providing necessary recommendations.
