Practical experience

Idah is a highly skilled legal practitioner with extensive experience in civil litigation, commercial and property law, insolvency, mining law, and corporate advisory. Her pragmatic approach to legal problem-solving and strong client representation makes her an invaluable asset to the firm.

Some of the matters that she has been involved in include the following: 

  • Advising public entities and private clients on constitutional and administrative law, including the PFMA, MFMA, and procurement regulations.
  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and interpreting various agreements including lease, supply, and service level agreements.
  • Drafting pleadings and court documents (action and application proceedings), heads of argument, and appearing in both the High Court and Magistrates’ Court.
  • Providing legal opinions and advising on property management, unlawful occupation matters, and evictions.
  • Representing clients in insolvency proceedings, including participation in insolvency inquiries and interpretation of the Companies Act and Insolvency Act.
  • Conducting forensic and due diligence investigations and compiling legal reports.
  • Advising on tax-related matters, including the interpretation of the Tax Administration Act and VAT Act.
  • Appointed by SARS to advise and litigate in mining-related tax disputes, including the interpretation of section 37(a) of the Income Tax Act and provisions of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Royalty Act.
  • Advising on environmental rehabilitation obligations and disputes concerning the term “bulk” in mining operations.
  • Drafting and vetting a wide range of commercial agreements for private and corporate clients.
  • Appointed by Airports Company South Africa to facilitate and negotiate the potential settlement or termination of the Employee Transport Scheme.
  • Representing SARS in insolvency proceedings, including its claim against Mirror Trading International (MTI), with SARS having been recognized as a preferent creditor in the estate.
  • Representing Mowana Properties (Pty) Ltd. in debt collection and eviction proceedings on behalf of the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) across several provinces.
  • Managing a large-scale property stabilization and eviction project in Germiston (President Place) on behalf of the National Housing Finance Corporation SOC Ltd, under City Net (Pty) Ltd.
