Practical experience

Thabiso has experience in litigation, corporate and commercial law, and has acted on behalf of both public sector institutions and private entities across a range of complex legal matters.

  • He has worked as part of legal teams representing major state-owned and regulatory bodies, including the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA), where he assisted in the resolution of personal injury claims and engaged in dispute resolution processes aimed at achieving fair and practical outcomes.
  • Involved in several matters on instruction from Assupol, including litigation against a former financial adviser for misrepresentation. This work involved both civil and criminal proceedings, with outcomes including the dismissal of an application for lack of urgency and the awarding of costs in favour of the client.
  • Assisting in investigative and advisory work for the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), where he assisted in assessing compliance with public procurement and tender processes, including matters arising from the procurement of personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Acted on instruction from the Road Accident Fund (RAF) on providing recommendations on appropriate sanctions in the area of employment and disciplinary law.
  • Involved as part of an investigative team appointed by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to determine whether disciplinary proceedings were warranted based on investigative findings.
  • Involved in an ongoing project for the South African Revenue Service (SARS) focused on asset preservation initiatives aimed at recovering outstanding tax liabilities.
  • Assisting the South African Revenue Service (SARS) with tax-related disputes, including the interpretation and application of the Employment Tax Incentive (ETI) Act in relation to NGO operations and third-party funding.
  • Involved on matters for Mowana Properties (Pty) Ltd, including debt collection, commercial evictions and litigation relating to properties owned by the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF).
