Practical experience

Izahn’s experience includes working on both High Court and Magistrate Court related matters, by assisting clients on various matters relating to urgent motion court, commercial and civil litigation, administrative and procurement law, tax law and personal injury law. As part of her overall practice, she attends to the following:

• Advises public entities and other clients on the Constitution, Public Finance Management Act, Municipal Systems Act, procurement policies and any other applicable legislation.
• Institutes commercial eviction proceedings on behalf of clients within Gauteng.
• Assists PRASA and TRANSNET in defending various personal injury claims resulting from rail commuter incidents
• Drafts relevant documents to institute proceedings (action and application proceedings).
• Appearances in the Magistrates Courts.
• Advises clients on property law and management relates aspects, including advising on the Prevention of Illegal Eviction from and Unlawful Occupation of Land Act.
• Advises clients in tax- related matters, including interpretation of the Tax Administration Act, Value- Added Tax Act and the Employment Tax Incentive Act.
• Assisted client in complying with the regulatory requirements as may be legislated through various acts of parliament.
• Assisted client in reviewing legislation and related or associated regulations, including advising on the reviews to be implemented and draft amendments as be the case.
