Practical experience

Miranda gained experience in corporate law and employment law. Some of the matters that she has been involved in include the following:

  • Worked as part of the legal team instructed to represent Mowana Properties (Pty) Ltd to attend to debt collection, commercial evictions and litigation in respect of properties owned by the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF).
  • Worked in commercial and general litigation departments which include attending hearings, drafting of notices and pleadings, setting down matters, drafting opiniona, preparing bundles for hearing. Attended to pre-trial consultations, and assisting with administrative work.
  • Worked as part of the legal team representing the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) at the High Court with a personal injury claim.
  • Conducted forensic investigations for a client which included conducting interviews with employees, and inspection of procedures.
  • Acted for the Competition Commission (CC) on various matters at the Competition Tribunal.
  • Drafting of rulings and sanction, closing arguments, aggravation statements and investigation reports on labour and employment law matters for the following clients: Public Investment Corporation (PIC), Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), Department of Home Affairs (DHA), and the Road Accident Fund (RAF).
